Welcome to The Marian Curriculum ("The Marian Mystery and the Christian Life"), an open digital study platform compiled and edited by Fr. Jacob Gruber. We are dedicated to providing a prayerful, scholarly environment that respects your privacy and protects your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide you with a seamless and personalized study experience:
- Account Information: When you create an account or sign in using Clerk or Google Authentication, we receive basic profile details such as your name and email address to identify your account and authenticate your sessions.
- Study Journal & Progress: When signed in, reflections, margin notes, and checklist items you save in the Study Chamber are securely stored in your personal account store to enable cross-device synchronization. For guest users, this data is saved exclusively in your browser's local storage.
- AI Companion Inquiries: Questions submitted to the Theological Companion are processed solely to generate relevant theological responses and apply rate limits. We do not sell or monetize your queries. The text of your questions is never retained.
- Feedback & Inquiries You Submit: If you choose to send feedback through the feedback form, we store the message you write, the category and rating you select, and — unless you tick “Submit anonymously” — the name and email address you provide, so that we can read your note and reply to you. Choosing to submit anonymously means no name, email address, or account identifier is stored with your message.
- Service Analytics: We keep anonymous daily totals to understand how the platform is used and what it costs to run: counts of Companion inquiries and audio generations, token and latency totals, and which course and week were open. These are aggregate counts only. No question text, reflection text, note text, or Companion response is ever stored in our analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect strictly to:
- Authenticate your access across devices (desktop, tablet, and mobile).
- Synchronize your private study notes, checklists, and saved theological insights.
- Manage cohort and scholar access credentials.
- Maintain service security, prevent unauthorized access, and enforce rate limits.
3. Third-Party Services & Authentication
To operate our platform securely, we integrate with trusted third-party providers:
- Clerk: Our identity and user management platform. Clerk processes authentication securely in accordance with strict industry standards.
- Google OAuth: Allows single-click sign-in using your Google account. We access only your basic public profile (name and email) to create your scholar account.
- DeepSeek AI: Powers the Theological Companion using grounded curriculum context.
4. Data Storage, Export & Deletion
Your study data belongs to you. You can export your complete course portfolio or single-week reflections as Markdown keepsakes or raw JSON backups directly from the Journal tab at any time.
If you wish to delete your account or stored cloud journal data, you can do so through your user profile settings or by contacting us directly.
Feedback you submit is retained until it has been read and addressed, and you may ask us to delete it at any time using the contact address below. Anonymous daily analytics totals are kept for 90 days and then discarded; because they contain no message text and no account identifiers, they cannot be traced back to you.
5. Cookies & Local Storage
We use essential browser cookies and local storage exclusively to preserve your theme preferences (font size, serif mode, dark mode), offline study notes, and active session tokens. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers.
6. Contact Us
If you have any questions, feedback, or data requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your study journal, please submit an inquiry directly through our Scholar Feedback & Inquiries Desk on the platform, and we will promptly review and respond.
